Who am I?
Welcome! I’m a UX designer with a background of almost a decade in teaching, and that has helped guide my style. Old habits die hard with making things simple and easily digestible, but the challenge of creating things this way is something I like. Turning towards my design interests, I focus on languages and education, but I’m open to whichever field that presents itself.
I made my switch from teaching English as a Second Language to UX/UI design about a year or so ago, based on the epiphany when I was creating lessons: I liked this aspect more than teaching itself. Fortunately, making the move to design has been smoother than imagined! After all, designing for a user-centered experience ultimately involves clear explanations and creativity, which as a teacher I am no stranger to. Given how I taught students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds, I’m trained to find a way to make information more digestible and easily processed. On top of that, I have plenty experience in understanding the needs of students in order to facilitate their improvement and achievement of their goals. Consequently, I’ve thought more about who I am as a UX/UI designer. So, when all is said and done, I approach things being appreciative of the feedback and/or restrictions given that it’s what ensures users are given the best possible experience.
Outside of designing, you can find me playing sports (hockey and Gaelic football) as well as trying to learn several languages and dreaming about travel. As the saying goes: healthy mind, healthy body!
